Tamales with a Twist!

Another “better late than never” post!

My family makes tamales every year around Christmas time and this Christmas I requested we add a “healthy twist” to one batch! 

Instead of the traditional lard(we use vegetable shortening not lard) used to make tamales, we used coconut oil to make our sweet tamales!!!  We ALSO added shredded coconut to them to double the coco-nutty goodness!!!  To say they were good is a HUGE understatement.  You can eat them with

  1. A glass of milk of your choice – I like coconut and almond milk
  2. A cup of tea
  3. A side of fruit and glass of water
  4. A protein shake
  5. Whatever else you can think up!
